The Tale of Amelie is a very unique romantic comedy that emerged out of France during the early 2000's. Directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, the story follows the life of the young girl named Amelie who has grown up in a household lacking physical and emotional connection. Once older and in the world on her own, Amelie must discover what love is and how to express it to the ones she deems worthy. She begins to perform actions and deeds towards the people around her and truly makes the world her world throughout the film.

I haven't seen very many french based films but I was pleasantly surprised by the quirky, silly tone that Amelie Presents to the viewer. The film places you in the point of view of Amelie's mind, which leads to some very interesting camera work and use of CGI to express that to the audience. The use of color to not only create the Mise en Scene or atmosphere, but also to express the emotion of Amelie or the characters of that scene. When watching try to pay attention to these colors and try to match them with the emotions at that point in the film. You should be able to notice patterns after a while.

Overall, Amelie is a very light-hearted, fun film to watch that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy at the end. Maybe some of us need that feeling during these troubling times. Everyone stay healthy and stay safe.
