Snowpiercer Trailer is attached at the bottom.

Snowpiercer, directed by Bong Joon Ho, is about the last surviving human population living on a train designed to run forever. The people need to be on this train due to the world being in some sort of Ice Age. The train has been circling the world for years and the people on the train have been separated by class. Rich people get to live towards the front of the train with high class food, and really nice living conditions. The poor people live in the back of the train and feed off of scraps. The story involves the poor led by actor Chris Evans, revolting against the privileged and fighting to the front of the train to gain control.

So the plot on the surface is very easy to understand but as you go deeper you begin to find much more. Lets begin with cinematography and design. The film does a very good job showcasing the functionality of the train, how and why it works the way it does. As an engineering major I found this the most interesting since perpetual motion machines are impossible to make. The film also looks its most beautiful during either the dark scenes or the wide landscape shots portraying what this strange world is like. Also the use of the train and how it affects what the characters do really makes it almost a character itself.

I think a deeper question the film tries to bring up is whether or not we need separate social and economical classes in order to maintain stability within society. I think by end the of the film you will have seen why the train needs these classes while as having a sense of understanding of why one side would want these classes and the other not so much.

Overall it was a great film to watch, and is a great addition to the Sci-fi genre. It is available to stream on Netflix and I also recently found out that the film was suppressed by Harvey Weinstien back in in 2014, which hurt its release. So I highly recommend we give it the support it deserves. I don't want to spoil anything but the monologue at the end is amazing to say the least.
